Georgia hits highest single-day death toll ever as COVID-19 continues to rage across state

ATLANTA — As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across Georgia, the Department of Public Health reports that the state has seen its highest single-day death toll from the virus on Tuesday, of 145.

The last record was set on Aug. 11 with 129.

In total, the virus has claimed 10,444 people across the state since it was first reported in Georgia in March. The total number of confirmed cases of the virus stands at 648,694.
