NEW YORK — A Good Morning America anchor broke down in tears when he reported the death of his friend Jovita Moore Monday morning.
T.J. Holmes has been a co-anchor and correspondent on GMA since 2014. Before that, he worked at CNN in Atlanta.

Holmes’ voice immediately started to break when he began to read a segment remembering Moore. Holmes was barely able to finish and was in tears when the camera came back to him.

“I’m sorry. I moved to Atlanta as a CNN anchor and she took me in,” Holmes said, his voice faltering. “That woman is special.”

Holmes apologized again and said he didn’t realize he would have to read Moore’s memorial segment.
“Jovita was something special,” Holmes said. “I’m sorry.”

Co-anchor Robin Roberts jumped in, remembering times that Moore had visited the GMA set.
“It was special when she would come visit us here. Her personality was so electric and dynamic,” Roberts said. “And such a beautiful smile and beautiful person.”
Holmes said that when he lived in Atlanta, Moore was the “queen,” but she took the time to mentor him anyway.

“And to pick me... and I spent countless times with her, and she was just a special lady,” Holmes said. “So I’m sorry.”
