Gov. Kemp expected to announce adults will soon be eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has learned that Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to announce Tuesday that all adult Georgians will soon be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The governor is scheduled to hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon, where it appears he will make the announcement official.

We’ll have LIVE coverage of the news conference on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m.

Kemp had previously said that he expected to be able to open vaccinations to all adult Georgians by some time in April.

He said last week, that Georgia was about to get a huge increase in number of vaccines it should be getting from the federal government.

TRENDING STORIES:

Earlier this month, Kemp said Georgians 55 and over, and those with certain medical conditions would be able to get the vaccine. That is expected to change Tuesday.

As of Monday evening, more than 3.2 million doses of vaccine had been given statewide.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will soon be a federal mass vaccination site, being able to give about 6,000 doses a day.
