ATLANTA — Bathrooms at Van Pugh Park on Lake Lanier have been repeatedly defaced and Park Ranger Michael Axton says if these actions continue, consequences could follow.
Axton told Channel 2′s Tom Regan paint bombs had been set off, graffiti painted on walls, fixtures broken, windows smashed and picnic tables set ablaze.

Repairs are costing thousands to fix the damage vandals are causing, money Axton says could be used elsewhere.
“We’re having to put money back into the restroom when it could be used to put on some other things,” Axton said.
The consequences?
“Unfortunately, if the bathroom has to close, so does the park,” Axton said.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have shared photos of the vandalism, hoping someone will come forward and identify those they believe are responsible.
“I think that’s terrible,” said neighbor John Woodlift, visitor of the park. “That’s awful. This is such a great asset for the whole metro Atlanta community.”
