She got emotional as she thought about the Braves winning the World Series just nine months after Hank Aaron passed away. Billye Aaron said he would have been so proud of the team.

“I think he would have just been happy, happy about it,” she told Jones.

Aaron said she has suffered so much loss this year, that a win like this takes on a special meaning.

“To have it come at this time, and especially I know how Henry would have felt about it, so I think it was just good luck and God’s blessings,” she said.

She’s also proud to look at her husband’s number 44 painted in the outfield at Truist Park as a reminder of his hard work and commitment to helping minorities get opportunities in baseball.

During Jones’ interview with her, Aaron started to get emotional. She told him she was thinking about the love of her life.

“That’s on my mind every. I can’t go to the stadium without thinking about him. I can’t watch a game without thinking about him. And I know how dear the game was to him,” she said.

While she won’t attend Friday’s celebratory parade, Aaron says she’ll be watching.

When Jones asked if she thought they could bring the World Series back to Atlanta next year, she said we should stay in the moment and enjoy this championship.
