ATLANTA — An inmate who escaped from the Atlanta Transitional Center Saturday morning has been captured.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Dennis Carlyle, 23, escaped the facility in the 300 block of Ponce De Leon Avenue.
Police said Carlyle was spotted Sunday at a package store on Stanton Road, where someone called police.
He was then located by East Point police along the Stanton-Delowe Connector near an apartment complex.
Police said he gave chase, but was arrested by officers just after 8 p.m.
No one was injured in getting Carlyle in custody.
Carlyle was convicted of committing a 2012 robbery and was serving a seven year sentence, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
People who live near the center said they were concerned.
"You know, you have your family and friends here and you don't know what this guy's capable of. If they're not supervising these inmates then maybe this facility shouldn't be here.
