ATLANTA — Drivers could see flooded streets after widespread rain fell throughout metro Atlanta.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said an average of 1-2 inches of rain fell overnight across north Georgia.
It caused several areas of street flooding, including on Peachtree Street in Midtown Sunday afternoon.
Channel 2's Rikki Klaus was there as crews tried to improve drainage on flooded Highway 369, one of Cherokee County's main thoroughfares.
A flood warning remains in effect for Big Creek in Alpharetta through midafternoon.

From north Fulton/north Gwinnett County north and east, there was a glaze of ice, especially on treetops and power lines.
In Gainesville, about 0.20 inches of glaze formed. Fortunately, this primarily stayed off the roads.
“The rain has ended most areas and there will even be some breaks of sunshine this afternoon,” Monahan said.
He said we can expect highs near 50 degrees in Atlanta.
“A cold front will move through Sunday night with a beautiful start to the work week behind it – under a mostly sunny sky, temperatures will near 50 degrees Monday,” Monahan said.
He said the next front moves in late Tuesday into Wednesday, with a chance of showers late Tuesday and rain with isolated storms possible Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the low 60s.
