ATLANTA — If you’re a longtime Atlanta Braves fan, the sound of “BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN!” is burned into your memory as a one of the most exciting moments in our city’s history.
That call by Skip Caray as Sid Bream slid into home during the 1992 NLCS game was just one of many memorable moments during a thrilling run in Braves history that would see the team play five World Series in a decade and win one.
If you’ve been a fan since then, it’s easy to think that the team is a veteran of Major League Baseball’s championship series.
But for most of the current Atlanta Braves, this is brand new territory -- something they’ve spent their careers working towards.

Several of the current Braves weren’t even born when Atlanta won the series in 1995 (Ronald Acuna Jr, Ozzie Albies and Ian Anderson, to name a few.)
Only four players and two coaches on the Braves’ World Series roster have been on previous World Series-winning teams.

Our favorite pearl-wearing outfielder, Joc Pederson, is a veteran of World Series Games; 2021 will be his fourth series. Pederson was with the Dodgers when they lost two World Series games back-to-back against the Houston Astros in 2017 and then the Boston Red Sox 2018. He got to take home a World Series championship ring in 2020 when the Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays.
Pederson’s current teammate, Braves pitcher Charlie Morton, is credited as the winning pitcher of the World Series when the Houston Astros beat the Dodgers in 2017.

Jorge Soler was on the Chicago Cubs when they won the series in 2016. Shortstop Ehire Adrianza was a World Series champion in 2014 when he was with the San Francisco Giants.
If current hitting consultant Chipper Jones is any indication, it’s still pretty rare to be on a World Series-winning team.
Jones won one World Series in his MLB career as a player -- the 1995 World Series with the Braves. Jones was also on the team in 1996 and 1999 when the Braves lost to the New York Yankees.
Walt Weiss, the team’s bench coach, also won a World Series in 1989 with the Oakland A’s. He was also on the Braves 1999 World Series roster as a player.
