NewsChopper 2 was over the Capitol where protests were going on.

It appeared to be part of the “50501″ - 50 protests, 50 states, one day - movement being organized online against Trump and the early actions from his administration.

Channel 2’s Richard Elliot says there are over a hundred protesters there.

The protest began around noon and continued throughout Wednesday.

Protestors chose to be right outside the offices of Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Sen. Jon Ossoff.

But, those who they want to speak up are Republicans.

“I think they’re afraid they’re not gonna be re-elected and out goes the dollars,” protestor Rose Caplan said.

Caplan believes there are many Republicans in Congress who understand where protesters are coming from.

She believes many Republicans are not speaking up about what she’s calling President Trump’s sweeping executive orders because they don’t want to lose political power.

“I’m concerned that we are on the brink of losing our democracy. I mean it’s as simple as that,” Caplan said.

“It just feels like a scary time,” protestor Kyle Lorenzano said.

Lorenzano doesn’t think people realize what will happen, now that President Trump has signed those orders on everything from tariffs – immigration and climate change.

“If it’s not affecting you right now, it will inevitably. I know people personally who are involved in the civil service who are getting these emails...these fork-in-the-road emails... giving people the supposed option of resigning and getting severance pay supposedly,” Lorenzano said.

Channel 2 Action News spoke to Republican State Sen. Drew Echols at the State Capitol, where hundreds more protestors were part of the national movement.

“More power to them. I hope they have a good day. I hope they’re safe. They’re not disrupting traffic or anything like that. Again if they’re not protesting him, they’re gonna find something,” Echols said.
