ATLANTA — Officials are hoping to administer 2,500 COVID-19 vaccines in exchange for 2,500 free Music Midtown tickets today at Piedmont Park.
People were already lined up at the two vaccination sites in the park before the event kicked off at 11:30 a.m. Organizers planned to give tickets and vaccines out until they ran out.

Both the Pfizer and the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine were on offer.
Last month, Music Midtown announced that anyone who attends will need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours.

Gage Kirby said he came to the event 50% for the free ticket and 50% for the vaccine.
“I did really want to got Music Midtown and tickets were around $140, so a free ticket was pretty cool,” Kirby said. “But then the other side is my whole family got (the shot).”

People who get their shot at the event will still be required to wear a mask at the festival, since the vaccination process takes about six weeks to offer full protection.
Music Midtown is Sept. 18 and 19.
