ATLANTA — Atlanta’s iconic New Year’s Eve Peach Drop is returning to Underground Atlanta this year.
The event will be free and will be headlined by rapper Big Boi.
The Peach Drop has been inconsistent in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic shut it down for a couple of years. Then last year, some logistical challenges caused organizers to cancel the event.

However, Underground Atlanta owner, Shaneel Lalani, told Channel 2′s Eryn Rogers this year they started planning earlier, they are focusing on safety, and are ready to welcome people to Underground to ring in 2025.
Lalani said the Peach Drop this year will set the stage for other large scale, international events the city is hosting in the coming years like the World Cup.
“We really want people to start here, then march to the stadium, just like they did with the old Turner Field,” Lalani said. “We want people to use the Marta, use public transportation, come to Underground.”

People who work at businesses at Underground are looking forward to all the traffic. Already this year, a million people have visited Underground, and they have hosted more than 2500 events. The Peach Drop is expected to add at least another 70,000 people to that total.
“It being here is a great way for this area to get back on the map,” said Tori Banks, who is a barber at Legends Barbershop at Underground.
Gates will open to Underground at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve. Organizers are encouraging people to ride MARTA or take rideshares.
