The dog owner didn’t want to be identified, but she spoke with Channel 2′s Larry Spruill on the phone. She claimed her 10-pound poodle mix was attacked at Chastain Park during their morning walk.

You hear somebody going, ‘Juno come. Juno.’”

Then out of nowhere, the unthinkable happened.

“It all happens so fast. It literally launched itself onto my dog. I’m screaming, I’m trying to get the dog away,” she said.

The owner told Channel 2 the attack happened in the park. She said that while she was trying to save her dog, she happened to look up and saw the owner of the vicious dog watching.

“I saw a person up there and I’m going, ‘please lady, come get your dog.’”

The owner said her walking partner was able to chase the dog away, and both the dog and its owner disappeared.

“It looked like a Lab mix, but it had dark markings on it,” she said.

Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts said his officers learned this was not the first incident involving the aggressive dog.

“What we found out so far is that there have been other complaints against this same dog,” Pitts said.

That’s why Pitts said he wants to strengthen current laws. Under Georgia’s Responsible Dog Ownership Law, the first violation is a misdemeanor.

The second violation is considered a felony. The owner could get either one year to 10 years in jail, or a fine of up to $10,000. In egregious cases, the owner could get both, and the dog would be put down.
