The incident happened in the same area where the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a protester shot a Georgia State Patrol trooper on Wednesday morning and was later killed by officers during a raid at the site.
On Wednesday night, a group of protesters held a vigil for the protester who officers shot.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to Atlanta and DeKalb police for more information about Thursday morning’s raid, but the agencies have not responded.
The proposed facility would take up an 85-acre plot off Key Road in the largest urban forest in metro Atlanta. Protesters fear it would be bad for the community and the environment.
