ATLANTA — The WSB-TV family is mourning the loss of beloved former meteorologist who made his mark at station in the 70s and early 80s.
Johnny Beckman died on Sunday.

Beckman was a Channel 2 meteorologist for 20 years, known to metro Atlanta as “Johnny the Weatherman.”
While he worked at WSB from 1962 to 1982, Beckman’s career as a meteorologist spanned 40 years.

He was still living in Stone Mountain and was writing short stories in his retirement.
Beckman was 90 years old.
Channel 2 meteorologist Glenn Burns remembers Beckman as someone he learned a lot from.
“I know many of you remember him. Johnny Beckman was my Chief Met when I started at WSB in 1982. He taught me a lot. He had a great sense of humor too. Johnny passed away on Sunday. His career as “Johnny the Weatherman” spanned 40 years,” Burns said.
