Man arrested after 3 shot outside southwest Atlanta hookah lounge

ATLANTA — Police said a man opened fire near a hookah lounge in southwest Atlanta Saturday night, leaving three men shot.

Police said they were called to a report of shots fired around 10 p.m. near 301 Peters St. near the CRU Hookah Lounge. An off-duty Atlanta police officer heard gunfire and also responded to the scene.

Police found three men with gunshot wounds. They were all taken to the hospital and were stable. Investigators determined that when at least one person began shooting outside the lounge, a security guard fired towards one of the suspects and was shot during the confrontation.

The off-duty APD officer was able to provide a description of the suspect, who ran from the scene. Responding officers caught him and found that he had two handguns.

Investigators are still working to determine how the shooting happened. The names of the victims and the suspect have not been released.

The gunfire shattered at least one window of a business.
