ATLANTA — A man is facing multiple charges after police said he caused a crash and then drove his car inside of a downtown Atlanta hotel.
The incident began around 11 p.m. Wednesday when officers were called to the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel on Courtland Street in reference to a crash. The victim in the crash told officers that a man in a black Volkswagen Passat hit her car and then drove off.
While officers were still at the scene, a security guard at the hotel said the hit-and-run car had just backed into the hotel doors causing damage. When the officers tried to stop the car and contact the driver, the driver drove off and went entirely into the lobby of the hotel.
Video posted on social media showed the Volkswagen driving into the hotel and parking in front of the interior elevators.
