ATLANTA — A woman shot during an attempted robbery at Lenox Square remains in the hospital recovering while her fiancé is giving new insight in the events that led to the shooting.

From a room inside of Grady Memorial Hospital, Harrison Roff opened up to Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez about the terrifying ordeal that sent his fiancée, Jenna White, to the intensive care unit and their 2-year-old son into a panic.

"My son is only 2 years old, and for him to witness that was heartbreaking for me," Roff said.

The family's fear comes after two men attempted to rob them at Lenox Square Wednesday evening. It happened in the parking lot outside the Tesla showroom.

"Someone came up to my door with a gun and told me to give them everything," Roff told Jaquez.

Roff said he managed to fight the guy off at first while screaming to his fiancée to jump into the car with their son.

The only problem was while all three managed to get into the car safely, their back passenger door was still open.

“The suspect jumped into the back seat to go at my son, and that's when my fiancée was shot," Roff said.

This all happened as police said the gunman's accomplice stood by as a lookout and shouted for the gunman to shoot Roff.

“The whole time, I was honking my horn and screaming for help. After she was shot, the two suspects ran off,” Roff said.

Scared to death, Roff said he gunned the gas in his car while calling 911.

He said while on the phone, the operator asked him to pull into a restaurant parking lot so medics could pull White from the car and rush her to the hospital.

As White recovers in the ICU post-surgery, police are making it clear they're doing all they can to catch the bad guys.

“Our investigative team has been working on this all day. They're looking at video, going back the scene and canvassing the area see if they can find witnesses,” said Sgt. Warren Pickard, with the Atlanta Police Department.

As for Roff, he credits officers and medics for saving his fiancée’s life.

“They were able to save her,” Roff said.

So far, no suspect has been arrested in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
