Man dies after being shot, crashing car on busy Buckhead street

ATLANTA — One man is dead and a woman riding his car is injured after police say someone shot into his car on Piedmont Road in Buckhead, causing the victim to crash.

Atlanta Police say they were called out to the area around 2525 Piedmont Road around 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning and found a car up against a tree in a shopping center that is home to Waffle House, Target, Best Buy and Home Depot.

A man in the crashed car was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say they believe the victim was driving when someone pulled up alongside him and started shooting. The victim crashed his car into a tree.

The female passenger wasn’t shot but was hurt in the crash and treated.
