Man shot after fight breaks out near busy Ansley shopping center

ATLANTA — Police say a man was shot at a busy shopping center in the Ansley area early Saturday morning.

Police were called to reports of a man shot at 1544 Piedmont Road, which is near the Publix at Ansley Mall, around 1 a.m. The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was stable.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates there was a fight that broke out among several people that escalated into a shooting.

Officers are working to identify the suspect and determine what led to the shooting.

The victim’s name has not been released.
