ATLANTA — Police are investigating the shooting death of a homeless man found underneath a bridge on Monday night.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Cheshire Bridge Road and Lenox Road for a person down around 10 p.m.

Officers on the scene found a man dead underneath the bridge with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers in the area say they are familiar with the man, but his identity has not been released.
Homicide investigators are still working to learn what led up to the man’s death.
They say the man could have been shot and killed up to a week ago before being found, but the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office will have to determine the official time of death.

Investigators say they plan to canvass the area in the morning to see what information the community can pass along.
