Manhunt underway in southwest Atlanta after man runs from GSP roadblock, police say

ATLANTA — Atlanta police and Georgia State Patrol troopers are searching for a man they say ran into the woods to evade a roadblock.

Troopers were conducting a roadblock on Metropolitan Parkway near St. Johns Avenue SW Wednesday night when a man approached in his car, but soon ran for the woods.

Troopers say they heard a gunshot after he ran into the woods, but no one was injured.

GSP troopers pursued the man and called for SWAT teams and police helicopters to join in the search for the unidentified man.

Officers and troopers remain in the area searching.
