MARTA to have increased service during holiday events for New Year’s Eve, Peach Drop

ATLANTA — Ahead of the final holiday for the 2024 season, MARTA announced some temporary changes to transit services in Atlanta.

According to MARTA, they’ll be increasing train services through downtown Atlanta for three big events:

  • The Peach Drop on New Year’s Eve
  • Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade and Game on New Year’s Day
  • Polar Opposite Race on Jan. 4, 2025

For the Peach Drop, MARTA said trains will run on the Red and Gold lines between Lindbergh Center Station and Airport Station, and on the Blue and Green lines between Ashby and Candler Park stations every seven minutes.

After the celebration ends, MARTA said extra trains will also be put into service to accommodate the extra riders when the event is over.

For the Peach Bowl, a similar strategy will be in place. Trains will run ev ery seven minutes on the Red and Gold lines between Lindbergh Center and Airport stations, as well as on the Blue and Green lines between Ashby and King Memorial stations, with extra trains after the game.

On Jan. 4, 2025, MARTA said they’ll have trains running ever seven minutes on the Red and Gold lines between Lindbergh Center Station and Airport Station, and on the Blue and Green lines between Ashby and Candler Park stations to help with ridership related to the Polar Opposite Race.

Additional trains will run after the race as well.
