ATLANTA, Ga. — MARTA announced Thursday removed four streetcar vehicles from service due to a potential safety risk.

MARTA officials told Channel 2 Action News the vehicles were removed from service after engineers discovered wheel degradation that could pose a safety risk.
Since removing the vehicles from service on Nov. 29, MARTA officials said they have been working with Siemens to make the necessary repairs.

While those vehicles are out of service, MARTA Mobility vehicles will service the streetcar route. According to officials, they will also be wrapped in streetcar colors and logos to make the service more recognizable.
MARTA said the vehicles are expected to be back in service by early spring.
