Officers shoot, kill armed suspect involved in a fight inside a gas station, Atlanta police say

ATLANTA — An Atlanta police officer shot and killed an armed person who was involved in a fight inside of a gas station early Saturday morning, Atlanta Police Department said.

Police said officers were called to a BP gas station on Cascade Road in southwest Atlanta before 5 a.m. Saturday for a fight. When officers arrived, the clerk of the store was being stabbed by a person with a knife. At least one officer fired, hitting the suspect.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Officers used their batons to break the glass doors to the building because the doors were locked, police said.

Police said two unnamed officers were involved in the case. The officers had minor injuries from breaking the glass.

The store clerk was taken to a hospital with multiple stab wounds.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is on the scene and will be investigating the shooting.
