The last time the bowl hosted a semifinal playoff game was in 2019. The top-ranked, Louisiana State University Tigers football team defeated fourth ranked Oklahoma in a 63-28 game.
That game had a record attendance of 78,347 fans in the stands at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, surpassing the number of people who attended Super Bowl LIII, the 2018 CFP National Championship and the SEC Championship in the same venue.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has now sold out 23 of its last 26 games.
The semi-final game will be played on New Year’s Eve at either 4 p.m. or at 8 p.m. EST. The bowl’s two participating teams will be announced on Dec. 4.
The bowl will host either the No. 1 vs. No. 4 or the No. 2 vs. No. 3 teams in the country.
