Person shot in parking lot of theatre, shopping center off Ponce De Leon Ave

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are on the scene of a shooting the occurred in the parking lot of the Plaza Theatre and shopping center located off Ponce De Leon Avenue.

Channel 2 Action News is still working to learn more about the incident but police said the incident happened around 2:40 p.m.

According to police, when officers arrived they located a woman with a gunshot wound.

During the initial investigation police learned that the woman and man had an argument that escalated to shots being fired.

The man was detained and the woman was transported to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear what the argument was about, or if the victim and the man knew one another.
