Strong storms cause downed trees, flash flooding on roads across metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Parts of metro Atlanta saw heavy flooding after strong storms moved through Thursday afternoon.

Viewers sent Channel 2 Action News video of Northside Drive under several inches of water near I-75.

Crews rescued a person from a car in flood waters on Northside Parkway and Howell Mill Road.

Trees were also down on Northside Drive at West Paces Ferry Road and power was out.

In Cobb County, standing water was starting to consume the left lanes of I-75 south near I-285.

Cobb Fire had to evacuate a day care on Anderson Mill Road due to rising flood waters.

Cedartown in Polk County was also experiencing flash flooding.

In Decatur, a tree fell on a car at King’s Highway and Ansley Street. We’re working to learn if anyone was injured.
