ATLANTA, Ga. — Thousands of people counted down to 2023 at Atlanta’s Peach Drop Festival Saturday night.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens hosted the celebration along with CEO of So So Def Recordings, Jermaine Dupri.
The party featured musical performances from Da Brat, Jagged Edge and YoungBloodZ.

Security was tight.
Police combed the barricaded area of Underground Atlanta before the festival gates opened at 6 p.m.
“I’m so excited to be here and enjoy with everybody, and I’m so grateful for life,” said attendee Karen Grooms.
It was a family atmosphere where people enjoyed the music and food.
“I see people having fun, they’re so happy, they’re full of life, you know. Thank God for life,” said Grooms.

This is the first Peach Drop since the pandemic.
“You know, after the pandemic, you had to come out. You had to do something to celebrate,” said Latanya Tyson. “I felt good about this New Year coming. I felt excited.”

Shaneel Lalani operates Underground Atlanta.
“One of our goals with the property is to bring life back. I mean, if you look at back in the day, Underground was the place to go,” Lalani said. “So, one of our things we are really pushing for is bringing life back to the property, bringing people back to the property. So, we volunteered with the city to say, hey, we need bring this tradition back. I think by just this event, it’s been amazing.”
