ATLANTA — A man is in custody after Atlanta police opening fire at Atlantic Station.
Channel 2′s Matt Johnson learned a fight started outside the Twelve Hotel off 17th Street late Wednesday night. Atlanta police said their suspect, identified as Otis Rashad Laws, was drunk and got into an argument with someone outside the building.
The 30-year-old went inside to get his gun, came out and started firing shots at a security guard, according to police.
Max Wiley was a guest on the third floor of the hotel and saw it happening.
“He runs into the hotel, gets his gun, he comes around started shooting and goes back in the hotel,” Wiley said.
Police said that no one was hurt.

Channel 2 Action News viewers submitted videos that showed a heavy police presence in the area. A witness told Johnson that he heard about 12 to 13 gunshots outside his window at the hotel.
Wiley said he took cover.
“I fell on the floor and ducked,” Wiley said. “He was right outside my window. I didn’t know where the bullets were going. I was standing on the balcony.”
The man was taken to jail facing the following charges: Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
Atlantic Station property management team released a statement to Channel 2 Action News:
Overnight, a single suspect discharged a firearm on-site. No one was injured. Our security team and the Atlanta Police Department responded immediately, and the suspect was taken into custody. The safety and security of each resident, guest, employee and visitor to Atlantic Station is our top priority, and we appreciate the swift response from the authorities to apprehend the individual.
Suspect is now in custody, per source. More information to come from police overnight.
