DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the theft of a MARTA bus this weekend.
MARTA officials told Channel 2 Action News around 5 p.m. Sunday, authorities received reports of a person who stole a bus near Lawrenceville Highway and Steel Drive in DeKalb County.

According to the investigation, the suspect got onto the bus and threatened the bus driver. When the bus driver got off the bus to report the threats, the individual took control and drove away.
Later in the day, the thief was stopped at the entrance of Stone Mountain Park and was arrested.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.

MARTA confirmed no one else was on board the bus at the time of the theft.
The individual was charged with hijacking a motor vehicle.
