ATLANTA — A woman known as “the pink lady” is perhaps the biggest supporter of women who are fighting cancer by taking on some of their burdens so they can focus on the fight, even though she is not a cancer survivor herself.

Michelle Brown, known as the pink lady, began a grassroots effort 20 years ago called The Pink Bridge to lighten the financial burden on women fighting breast cancer.
She started small, selling coffee, cookies, chips, anything to raise funds.
“And before you know it, at the end of that day... $700. (I) paid a car note,” Brown said.
Her tireless work spans two decades, bridging the financial gap for women who are uninsured or underinsured.
Her efforts earned her the Unsung Hero Award from the Morehouse School of Medicine for 2023.
“I do it with so much joy because I’ve seen the smiles on the mothers’ faces,” Brown said. “(It’s) one less thing to worry about.”
The women she helps consider her an angel who answers the prayers of women who need a break to stay in the fight.
The Pink Bridge is a 501 (c) (3) organization and is always looking for sponsors to partner with.
Their help is available to any woman.
Brown’s goal by 2026 is to open a recovery center for women and their children who get evicted while undergoing cancer treatment.
