Police deem case of man found shot to death near Atlanta BeltLine a homicide

ATLANTA — Atlanta police said they are officially calling the death a man was found shot to death near a popular part of the Atlanta BeltLine a homicide.

Officers were flagged down around 7:45 a.m. Saturday Feb. 26 near Elizabeth Street and Bernina Avenue, which is near the Freedom Park Trail BeltLine Connector.

There, they found the body of Thomas Arnold with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Arnold lives in Inman Park.

Police said they believed Arnold was killed sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.

The Inman Park Neighborhood Association also sent Channel 2 Action News the following statement:

“Our Inman Park Community mourns the death of our Poncey-Highland neighbor, Tom Arnold. Our VP of Public Safety has been in contact with Atlanta PD regarding their ongoing investigation. Our neighborhood is dedicated to community and looking out for our neighbors. We hope APD is able to conclude their investigation and find who is responsible for this crime.”

Police have issued a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
