At the scene, a Channel 2 Action News reporting team saw a wheelchair in the road and what appeared to be a FlixBus there.
Police said, according to their preliminary investigation, that the man was crossing the street against a red traffic signal and “Don’t Walk” sign when the bus crossed, hitting him as he entered its path.
No passengers on the bus were injured, according to APD.
In response to Channel 2 Action News, FlixBus shared the following statement:
“We can confirm this incident involved a bus operated by an independent bus operator running a schedule from Orlando to Atlanta. We are in close contact with the operator and local authorities. We understand that law enforcement has determined the driver was not at fault in the incident. Our thoughts are with the impacted and their family. FlixBus does not operate buses directly; services are provided by independent bus companies. As this is an ongoing investigation, we do not have additional details to share at this time.”
