ATLANTA — Atlanta police say a 16-year-old girl was shot in her own apartment after a fight broke out outside.
It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Stone Road SW.
Investigators said a group of people got into a fight in the parking lot of the Hidden Creste Apartments and began shooting at each other.
Detectives believe one of the rounds ended up going into the girl’s apartment, hitting her.
Police said the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
They believe she was an innocent bystander in the incident.
One neighbor told Channel 2′s Matt Johnson that she brought her son to live in the apartment complex just a week ago.
“That could have been me or my child...in our apartment,” the woman wanted to only be identified with her nickname, Queen, said.
No one is currently in custody for this shooting.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
