ATLANTA — A road rage incident turned into an assault when police say a woman tossed a chemical liquid in a college student’s face
The attack happened on busy Peachtree Street at the intersection of Spring Street, and it ended down the road at the Chick-fil-A.
The college student, who asked not to be identified, told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes that she accidentally cut off the driver.
What happened next sent the student to the hospital.
“I was so afraid. It was the worst pain I’ve literally ever been,” the SCAD student said. “I just am really afraid of the people around me and what they’re going to do if I upset them.”
About a month ago, the student was driving up Peachtree Street and turned left onto Spring Street.
When she pulled in front of another car, she said the driver got upset.

“A few seconds later, they pulled up to my car and I turned, and right when I turned, liquid was flying into my face,” the student said.
Police say it was an acid-type chemical that made the student get treated at a nearby hospital. That’s why police are calling this an assault.
Investigators gave Fernandes surveillance video of the people they’re looking for. Police said the video was shot right after the assault. They say a woman involved in the incident is seen ordering food at a Chick-fil-A down the road.
Fernandes spoke to other SCAD students, who said they were shocked by this story.
“It’s crazy because you wouldn’t think someone would just go and throw acid on you because you just cut them off in traffic. You wouldn’t think it was that big of a deal,” student Kierra Gilbert said.
“For me personally, I don’t get to that level of road rage, obviously, so it doesn’t make sense how someone else could,” student Kendall Winn said.
Police say the attacker’s car was stolen from a rental car company.
