Police release video of 2nd suspect in Clark Atlanta University shooting

ATLANTA — Police have released new video of a man they say is a second suspect in a shooting that injured four students at Clark Atlanta University.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at a block party near campus.

The 20-second video shows a young male, wearing a black jacket with white stripes along the sleeves and camouflage pants.

Channel 2's Tom Jones talked to police, who said the video shows the second suspect staring at a man he later got into a shootout with.

Earlier this month, Atlanta police released another surveillance video showing that man, who also still hasn't been identified. Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the man in the first video.

Police are hoping someone recognizes both men.

Police said the new video shows the man in the black and white jacket staring at someone sitting on a bench.

For some reason, he's looking in the direction of the individual who he later exchanged gunfire (with)," Carlos Campos with the Atlanta Police Department said. "At that point, the shooting began."

Campos said police need the public's help to find both men.

"We are truly doing everything we can to identify these two individuals," Campos said.

Police said when officers arrived at the block party, they found four female students, ages 17 through 19, with injuries. They were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police identified them as Erin Ennis, 18; Maia Williams-McLaren, 18; Elyse Spencer, 18; and Kia Thomas, 19.

All four students have since been released from the hospital.

Clark Atlanta University said two of the students were from Clark Atlanta and the other two were from Spelman College.

Jones went to the CAU campus and showed the new video to students. No one recognized him.

"I mean, if anybody knows this guy, we need to get him, bad," a student told Jones.

Students are thankful no one was killed. They think it's important that police believe the gunmen weren't students.

"I just want people to know that that's not what the AUC is about," student Abrianna Bembry said. "That didn't have anything to do with AUC. We don't condone that."

Officers passed out flyers on campus Thursday showing the second suspect and said they do have leads on the first suspect.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the new video to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
