Police search for ‘dangerous' man believed to be tied to 3 homicides

ATLANTA — There is a warning from police Monday night as they search for a fugitive who's considered dangerous.

Andrew Neloms is believed to be connected to at least three murders.

In one case, police said Neloms killed a man after the two argued over a woman.

"To know a shooting happened right there makes me have second thoughts," Rashad Walton said.

Walton told Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez that he is having second thoughts about moving to his new neighborhood a month ago.

He said he moved his family to southwest Atlanta from New York, looking for a safer place to raise his two young kids.

But at the time he admits he didn't know the area or its reputation for high amounts of crime.

“It's hard for me and my family to live in an area knowing someone has been shot right around the corner from where I live at," Walton told Jaquez.

The homicide in his neighborhood happened Nov. 1 at an apartment complex along Alison Court.

Police said Neloms shot Octavius Brooks in the back at close range with a shotgun before taking off.

"We believe this individual may be in the Cobb County area. We are not sure," Major Adam Lee III, with the Atlanta Police Department, said.

Because they aren't sure, detectives decided to release images of Neloms. But they ask that the public be on alert.

They said Neloms may have cut his hair off in an effort to look different.  He goes by the alias Antonio Colvard.

"We have gotten to the point now where we feel if we put his face out there for people to see, hopefully someone will recognize him," Lee said.

Anyone with information on Neloms' whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. You can now follow Crime Stoppers on Twitter: @crmstoppersATL
