ATLANTA — Two men shot and killed at a rap concert at Underground Atlanta Sunday night had recently moved to Atlanta to advance their music careers, according to family.

Ewell Ynoa, 21, and Giovanni Diaz, 22, were on stage at the Masquerade just before the headliner was set to come out when they were shot and killed.

Police say Ynoa and Diaz jumped on stage after the second act finished its performance around 9:30 p.m. Ynoa’s brother said the 21-year-old was the hype man for the main act, Cousin Stizz.

“They had about three acts going on at the time of this incident. The second act was done, they were at a break in between the second act and the third act, who was about to come on stage when this incident occurred,” Atlanta police Capt. Reginald Moorman said.

According to police, someone in the crowd became unhappy that they were on the stage and they all began arguing. Police say the upset concert-goer then pulled out a pistol and shot Ynoa and Diaz. He then fired more shots toward the ground, hitting and injuring two other people.

“He was on stage being a hype man with Cousin Stizz and I guess getting the crowd hype got him killed and his friend,” Frailan Ynoa said.

A witness told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes that the gunshots made everyone scatter.

“Two females came running behind them and were like, ‘OMG they’re dead.’ And I was like, ‘Oh that’s crazy.’ I had to get out of there,” Carlos Zandola said.

The other two people who were shot are stable and expected to be OK.

Late Monday afternoon, police released a photo of two persons of interest in the shooting.\

Frailan Ynoa said his brother moved to Atlanta a few months ago.

“Ewell has been living out here for two months, was trying to do his music career,” he said.

Diaz had just moved here last week.

Frailan Ynoa said what he wants to know is how the shooter got into the club with a gun. The owner of the club wouldn’t comment.

“They were just good kids in the wrong moment for them. They were just trying to work and do something better for their lives,” Frailan Ynoa said.

Police are still searching for the shooter and are asking anyone who was at the Masquerade last night when the shooting happened to call them.
