ATLANTA — A SWAT situation in southwest Atlanta ended Friday morning after a man shot and killed himself inside a car.

Around 7:11 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Metropolitan Parkway SW on a car that was being driven by a known wanted person.
When officers stopped the vehicle, they attempted to take him into custody; however, when they approached the man, they noticed that he was armed.
Authorities said when officers backed away, they heard what sounded like a single gunshot coming from inside the car.

Officers said it appeared the suspect shot and killed himself. Police have not identified the suspect or said what he was wanted for.
The roadway has been reopened.
