‘Pothole posse’ tackling troubled roads in Atlanta neighborhood

ATLANTA — Atlanta DOT crews, also known as the “pothole posse,” went out to fill potholes in a neighborhood that has been plagued with the small craters for months.

Channel 2′s Audrey Washington went to Ormewood Park to see the progress.

The goal was clear: find the potholes along Palatine Avenue in southeast Atlanta and fill them.

On Monday, Mayor Andre Dickens joined crews with the Atlanta DOT as they got to work.

Neighbor Mike Scott said it was a much welcomed and overdue sight.

“I know to watch out for this intersection,” he said.

Scott said the asphalt craters grow even bigger anytime it rains.

“Living here on the hill with all the runoff, especially at this intersection, the potholes are a persistent issue,” he said.

Dickens said the pothole work is a part of his commitment to better address road problems throughout the city.

“We wanted to do something phenomenal for the people of Atlanta, and that was to fill potholes at the request of everybody in the city,” he said. “The goal is to fill 30 potholes a day. It’s going to take three crews.”
