ATLANTA — A husband facing charges for shooting his wife as they drove through midtown Atlanta is now out of jail.
Attorney Tex McIver posted bond and left jail Friday afternoon.
Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach was at the Fulton County Jail when McIver walked out.
McIver took almost two days since turning himself Wednesday to post his $200,000 bond.
Clutching a Bible and other books in one hand, McIiver walked out of the jail and into his lawyer's waiting SUV.
He made a very brief statement when someone mentioned the holidays.
"Wish you could bring my wife back,” McIver said.

The well-known attorney is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct in the death of his wife, prominent Atlanta businesswoman Diane McIver.
Diane was shot through the seat of the couple's SUV as they were driven by a friend near Piedmont Park and later died at the hospital.
Atlanta police spent nearly three months investigating the claim that the 38-caliber revolver on Tex McIver's lap accidentally fired, killing his wife.
"People that have known Tex and Diane say it was a loving relationship,” said Tex’s attorney, Stephen Maples. “There was never a harsh word, never a cruel word, there was never a word in anger. The two truly loved each other."
Maples said he and McIver plan to fight the charges once the case eventually goes to a grand jury.
"Hopefully the grand jury will look through it and look at all the evidence in the case and dismiss the charges," Maples said.
McIver has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 5.
