Retired award-winning Channel 2 consumer investigator Jim Strickland dies

ATLANTA — Consumer investigative reporter Jim Strickland, known for exposing countless rip-offs and scams died Monday evening.

Strickland retired from Channel 2 Action News in 2019 after nearly 40 years in the business, with 20 of those spent at WSB-TV.

He helped launch WSB-TV’s consumer investigative franchise in 1999. He said after 38 years in the business it was time to move on.

During his trailblazing career, Strickland’s investigations over the years shut down unscrupulous medical clinics, led to federal raids of illegally run businesses and facilitated sweeping regulation of the city of Atlanta’s car booting industry.

Strickland’s family shared with Channel 2 Action News that he passed away Monday evening, with his wife Marie by his side.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
