Sharon Minor told Channel 2's Rikki Klaus she'd be planning a funeral if the tree had fallen on her home instead of her yard.
"We're sad to lose all these big great oaks, but Praise the Lord, like I said they fell that way and didn't cut the house in two," Minor said.
The enormous tree was ripped out of a concrete driveway. Other smaller trees fell in the family's yard, including one that landed on power lines.
Channel 2's Rikki Klaus met Prudence Allen Bentley, 88, who showed off the cracks in her kitchen ceiling and walls. A large tree crashed onto her home last night as she and her son sat down for dinner.
"And we just said grace...the wind got going and all those trees out there were getting whirled around and around and around like that. It was like a tornado whirl," Bentley said. "Well nothing fell except the one tree in the front yard, fell kaboom, right across the whole roof and was hanging off the other side."
