Severe thunderstorm warnings issued for parts of metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Some strong storms are moving through metro Atlanta Thursday afternoon, causing flash flooding and downing trees and power lines.

There is currently a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Butts, Lamar, and Spalding counties until 3:30 p.m.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz said there will be some scattered showers and isolated storms throughout the day.

Later on today, the cold front will bring some comfortable weather with temperatures in the mid-80s.

Monahan added that the temperatures later in the week will be in the lower 80s, with the chance of showers.
