Sandy Springs police told Channel 2's Audrey Washington 19 middle school students were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. More than 30 students who were not hurt were taken to their school.
A Fulton County Schools spokesperson said the bus was from Ridgeview Middle School, which is located on Trimple Road in Sandy Springs.
The school bus driver told Washington that the driver of the blue car first hit another bus, before crashing into her bus.
She also said she kept the students calm until help arrived.
Police confirmed the driver of the blue car hit two buses.
"Apparently, he sideswiped the first bus and then ended up under the second bus," Sandy Springs Police Capt. Mike Lindstrom said.
Washington spoke to a witness who saw smoke and flames coming from the bus.
“I saw that there was a school bus and 15 to 20 students standing on this side of Roswell Road, and they looked very anxious, shocked," Teri Brown said.
Police have since charged the driver accused of hitting both buses with failure to maintain the lane.
