Sen. Jon Ossoff tests positive for COVID-19, quarantining in India

ATLANTA — U.S. Senator from Georgia Jon Ossoff has tested positive for COVID-19, according to his office.

Spokespeople said the senator tested positive while leading an economic delegation to India.

Ossoff is experiencing mild symptoms and will continue isolating in India for the rest of the week.

Officials say that because he is unable to return to the Washington, D.C., he will not be able to participate in planned Senate votes and business.

The senator is expecting to return to Washington for regularly scheduled business next week.

This announcement comes just one day after Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced that he has also tested positive for the virus.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, Dickens said that he is experiencing mild symptoms and will be working from home as he recuperates.
