ATLANTA — The U.S. House of Representatives will send the article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump on Monday night as Georgia’s two newest senators will debate whether or not to convict him.
Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock told Channel 2′s Richard Elliot while he was in Washington, D.C. last week, that he will be an impartial juror during the impeachment trial but also said what he saw at the capitol three weeks ago upset him very much.
“There’s no question that any American sitting and watching what happened in the Capitol just a few days ago has to find that repulsive.”
The article of impeachment accuses Trump of inciting the crowd gathered at his rally outside the White House to storm the Capitol on Jan. 6.
The mob attacked Capitol police and broke into the building, damaging the Senate chambers.
Five people died as a result of the chaos.
It all happened before Sens. Warnock and Jon Ossoff were sworn into office. Now both will sit in judgment as the House presents its case.

Warnock told Elliot he will judge the case on its merits.
“When the articles of impeachment make their way to the Senate, I will sit as an impartial juror and listen to the evidence,” Warnock said.
This is the first time any president has been impeached twice…and the first to have his Senate trial after he’s already left office.
It doesn’t appear Democrats have the votes to convict Trump. Warnock said he’ll do what he thinks is right to fulfill his oath.
“We owe it to him, and we owe it to the people who sent us here to make sure that we defend the constitution,” Warnock said.
Ossoff’s office had no comment on the upcoming senate trial.
Both of Georgia’s senators are Democrats, but Elliot also contacted the Republican members of Georgia’s congressional delegation.
Rep. Buddy Carter’s office was the only one who responded, saying:
“Continuing impeachment during the first days of the Biden Administration and as Democrats take control of both the House and Senate proves what we have been saying all along. Democrat’s top priority is going after Donald J. Trump. Washington Democrats have been presented with a great opportunity to work for the American people. Instead, they are wasting time and impeaching a President who has already left office.”
