Truist Building Plaza is located at 303 Peachtree Street NE.

Crews actually flew the sign in, which is why they have such a large radius of road closures around downtown.

The following roads were closed for most of the day:

  • Peachtree St. NE between Baker St. NE and Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd.
  • Peachtree Center Ave. NE between John Portman Blvd. NE and Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NE.
  • Baker St. NE between Courtland St. NE and Peachtree St. NE.
  • West Peachtree St. NE between Peachtree St. NE and Simpson St. NE.

Channel 2′s Elizabeth Rawlins spoke to people about the closures

“I can’t believe they are shutting all of this down for one building,” Debbie Clark said.

Truist is now the sixth-largest bank after SunTrust and BB&T merged. The merger was finalized in 2019, and one of the first signs to be replaced was in Cobb County, when SunTrust Park became Truist Park..

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to road signs and drive slowly through the area.

Officials told Channel 2 this project had to be rescheduled multiple times because of the weather. Conditions had to be perfect in order to safely get the sign replaced.
