Shooting breaks out on busy section of Peachtree Street, police say

ATLANTA — Police say shots were fired on Peachtree Street near Benihana Saturday night.

Police said the shooting happened around 8 p.m.

Officers arrived and found several vehicles damaged by gunfire. There were no gunshot victims on the scene.

"Preliminary investigation indicates there was a dispute between a group of males who exchanged gunfire," officers said. ".Witness accounts indicate one of the males appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound and fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel."

Officers followed up at several hospitals to search for victims but didn't locate any.

Investigators are still working to determine what happened.
