ATLANTA — Northeast Atlanta residents are back inside of their homes Monday morning due to a police standoff that stared on Sunday.
Police said they were called out to the Abbington Cheshire Bridge apartments off Cheshire Bridge Road about a domestic dispute on Sunday around 4:30 p.m.

When they got to the scene, they learned that a man with a gun involved in the dispute was still in the home.
Officers surrounded the location as SWAT units responded to the call to attempt to communicate with the man inside.
The situation ended peacefully around 11:45 p.m.

Channel 2′s Ashli Lincoln spoke with neighbors who waited outside for hours.
“It’s kinda worrying, when SWAT is in front of your house and you’re paying this kind of rent,” Stephen Chambliss said.
“It’s actually a nice neighborhood, for this to occur it’s kind of like surprising you know, but that’s just to show you anything can happen anywhere,” Antonia Gardner said. “it doesn’t matter if it’s nice, quiet or whatever. You just have to be aware of what’s going on around your neighborhood.”
